Ecologist, Environmental Biologist, Plant Tissue Culture Researcher
@ National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology
Working in Plant Tissue Culture Unit of NACGRAB
Since my employment at NACGRAB, I have been working in the Tissue Culture Unit, Biotechnology Department of NACGRAB. My assignment involved in vitro propagation of plant genetic resources of Nigeria, as part of the mandate of the Centre.
Vision of PTC unit of NACGRAB: NACGRAB PTC unit is to utilize Tissue Culture technology as the medium term conservation tool for the conservation of plant genetic resources of Nigeria.
This is to to complement the achievement of the mandate of NACGRAB, which is the conservation and maintenance of the diverse important biological heritage of Nigeria, for immediate utilization and posterity; and ensuring the conservation and sustainable use of these rich biodiversity through Research and Development.
My research duty within Tissue Culture Unit cut across:
Preparatory activities including Collection and Disinfection of Explant, Preparation of Glassware and Media; Culturing: Aseptic Isolation and Inoculation of Explants; Growth room Maintenance and Sub-culturing; Hardening and Post-flask management of Plantlets etc.
My Activities in Tissue Culture Unit, Biotechnology Department, NACGRAB
